Club Penguin Overview

Club Penguin is an MMORPG designed for children.

The game is a virtual world that allows children to communicate with each other, play games and decorate houses while using penguin avatars.

Club Penguin has been online since 2005 and has since grown to over 55million user accounts, giving it the title of the number one populated virtual world (for kids).

As Club Penguin is aimed at young children (5-14) it has a high focus on online safety.

Club Penguin Game Features

Club Penguin has a massive game world which is split into various areas. Players can join and leave these areas as they wish and can communicate with other penguins within the same game space. Players are given their own igloo home when they create their accounts which they are free to decorate as they wish.

Club Penguin constantly hosts parties and events for its users, most of which are based on real life events.

Club Penguin also allows its users to play tonnes of mini-games all with their own Club Penguin twist. Playing these games rewards users with coins which they can use to purchase items and clothing for their character.

Club Penguin Membership

Club Penguin uses a free-to-play business model, meaning players can access a majority of the games content for free but must purchase a monthly membership to access all of the game's content.

Unlike other free-to-play virtual worlds (like ToonTown Online) there is more than enough free content available on the site and it is not required to participate in the basic game elements.

Membership benefits of Club Penguin include:

  • Full access to all areas.
  • Purchase premium clothing for your penguin.
  • Decorate and host parties in your igloo.
